De Pompoen is a place where children feel safe and at home. With a consistent daily routine, loving guidance, and inspiring activities, they discover the world around them through play – and grow into their own, radiant selves.
What makes this location special is that we have our own unique spot where we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. For instance, the two daycare groups have a specifically designed indoor and outdoor space. Our after-school care is a nature-based program, where visiting the wooded surroundings is a regular part of the day. By being in the wild, children can experience a sense of freedom, recharge, and relax after a long day at school.
De Pompoen is located at Hoornwerk 2 and is part of Fort Isabella.
Our nature after-school care is a program for children aged 4-12 where connecting with nature and being outdoors are central. You’ll find us in nature for most of the afternoon—in the woods, on the heath, by the water, or in the park.

Nature as a Playground
By being in the wild, children can experience a sense of freedom, recharge, and relax after a long day at school. This gives creativity plenty of room, allowing us to enjoy playing with everything nature has to offer. We build forts, catch frogs, sharpen sticks, make sandcastles, and go looking for insects.
By dressing for the weather, we move with the four seasons, allowing us to experience nature all year round. We don’t shy away from a little rain, and we play right along with the winter cold.
At the end of the afternoon, we all walk back to our indoor location, De Pompoen, to wrap up the day.
