Enjoying healthy food together

Discovery also starts at the table

Eating is more than just a moment to satisfy hunger. It’s also a time to be together, discover new flavors, and have fun at the table. That’s why at ‘t Veldmuisje, we focus on healthy and varied nutrition that fits a child’s age.

We introduce children to different flavors and products through play. This way, they discover step-by-step what they like and build healthy eating habits for the future.

Healthy, varied, and prepared with care

We believe it’s important for children to get to know different flavors and healthy eating habits. That’s why we provide varied meals and snacks every day that follow the guidelines of the “Schijf van Vijf” (Wheel of Five).

In our groups, children enjoy:

We consciously choose variety so that children get to know different flavors, colors, and textures. This happens in a relaxed way and without pressure. After all, every child discovers at their own pace. This way, children discover new flavors through play and learn that healthy eating can also be delicious.

Fresh for the little ones

We also pay a lot of attention to nutrition for babies. We offer fresh fruit daily and match the stage the child is in. First as a soft fruit puree, later with small pieces, and eventually as independent pieces to eat by hand.

You don’t need to bring these snacks yourself; we prepare them fresh in the group.

Together at the table

We eat together as much as possible. During meals, children learn from each other. They see how other children eat, sometimes try something new, and practice eating independently through play. We take our time for these moments and ensure a calm and cozy atmosphere at the table.

We regularly sing songs, count pieces of fruit, or talk together about what’s on the table. This way, we turn every mealtime into a fun moment to experience together.

Eating together gives children a sense of trust and connection. You belong, you help each other, and you enjoy a nice meal together.

Discovering with your nose, eyes, and taste

Children are curious. That’s why we encourage them to look, smell, feel, and taste. A new vegetable or a different flavor is there to be discovered. Sometimes something is an instant favorite, sometimes it takes a little longer.

And let’s be honest: we also regularly see a frown, a skeptical face, or a tongue that sticks out just a bit too far after the first bite. Then we do our best not to laugh too hard and encourage the children to just try it again quietly.
